”Welcome to Papua New Guinea” –

The team is now almost complete: the two Aidocean’s founders, former pilot of the French Naval Air Force and former Skipper of the Vendée Globe were reunited with journalist Theodore de Kerros and documentary filmmaker Alexis Baudot. The fifth member of the French team, Doctor Jean Michel Pontier will meet the ship directly in New Ireland on Monday the 12th.

Tight negotiations with the Papua New Guinean Government: Since their arrival in Port Moresby, Marine and Sébastien have spent days in the Ministry of Health offices, however the good news is that the contract has finally been signed on Monday September 5.

“It was not very easy because there are a lot of processes and bureaucracy to follow, but the important thing is that we can finally set sail and meet the children who need help” comments the president of Aidocean Marine Bayer.

Delays in the vessel’s launch and planning disruption: Due to the overloaded in the shipyard planning, the launching of the 24-meter vessel the “Golden Dawn” has been delayed for several days.

“In an attempt to catch up, Marine and I are flying to New Ireland on Wednesday morning whilst the ship departs Port Moresby for the 1000 nautical mile toward Kavieng. We will reconnect with the Golden Dawn somewhere on the west coast of New Ireland on the 12th in order to immediately reach PukPuk and begin the immunization campaign,” said navigator Sébastien Destremau.

French and New Caledonia’s support: Supported by the French Government via the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs as well as by the Government of New Caledonia, Aidocean will visit 55 dispensaries on four islands in the New Ireland Province (Tanga, Babase, Lamassa and PukPuk). The Humanitarian Immunization Mission against infantiles diseases is scheduled to last 42 days.
