A surprise this summer: Marine Bayer, president of Aidocean, has received an honorary award. The Haut Commissariat of New Caledonia awarded her the Medal of Honour for Commitment, bronze level, for her commitment to the Overseas Territories.
The aim of this distinction is to ‘reward people who have distinguished themselves through remarkable service, by the exceptional quality of their initiative or their commitment to overseas France […]’ (according to the legifrance.gouv.fr website).
With 3 missions already in Papua New Guinea, Aidocean works in the field of health for disadvantaged populations. Marine is also involved with the ‘Pandanus de Yvy’ association in New Caledonia on the island of Maré. The aim of the association is to revive ancestral traditions: braiding Pandanus leaves. And weaving means growing Pandanus plants. Over 150 plants have already been planted and harvests are under way.
It is therefore with a certain pride, but also humility in the face of all that can still be done for the most disadvantaged, that the whole Aidocean team announces this news. Thank you to the High Commission of New Caledonia for this medal for overseas commitment, for its recognition and for highlighting the work of Marine and Aidocean.
We look forward to seeing you again soon.
